F.A.Q.
I have seen less
expensive inks, why shouldn’t I buy them?
For several reasons! Less
expensive pigment inks contain fillers. Less expensive dye
inks are diluted. Less expensive inks are not color
matched. You will not save money if you by the cheapo ink.
You will not create Fine Art Images. You will have to put
down more ink. With Suprachrome Ink Systems you are
getting the best ink made, and you are already at a 70%
discount. That’s as good as it can get!
Why
are Suprachrome Inks better?
Our color
experts specifically design inks to provide a larger color
gamut than the inks supplied by the printer manufacturers.
Our inks are measured against much higher standards,
staying a step ahead of printer manufacturers. Pushing
the envelope to achieve greater dynamic color range is our
mission. That’s all we do. We don’t make printers,
cameras, binoculars, or other things, JUST INK! (By
the way, printer manufacturers don't make their own inks.)
The strength of our inks provides much greater saturation.
This results in richer, deeper and more vibrant colors.
Can
your ink clog my printer head?
NO. No
more than Epson or Canon original inks. Suprachrome
inks are refined to a purity standard that is the
strictest in the industry. Even the best ink can dry on
the print head. You can prevent problems in this area by
printing regularly, performing regular maintenance, and
remembering to turn your printer off when you are finished
printing. These steps will leave you problem free.
What
can clog my printer head?
Two
things: (1) Super duper cheapo ink. (2)
Practices by the printer owner that cause clogs, no
matter what ink you use. For example, leaving your printer
on for long periods of time when not in use and failing to
run nozzle checks and cleaning cycles regularly.
What
do I get when I buy the Suprachrome Continuous ink feed
System?
You
get everything you need for your specific printer: a
CD of illustrated instructions, user guide, permanent ink
cartridges, ink reservoir, an ink set containing 4 oz ink
bottles of each ink.
Do I
need to install new ICC profiles?
No. This new ink is designed to not need separate
ICC profiles. However you may experience more brilliant
color and deeper rich blacks but, we're sure you will
learn to accept that!
☺
Do I
need to change all of my ink at one time? What about the
ink cartridges that are not empty yet?
Yes or No,
depending
on whether your use the iNKBOT system, refillable
cartridges or a Continuous Ink System
iNKBOT
system, refillable cartridges:
No, You can
replace them as each color needs to be replaced.
Continuous Ink System:
Yes,
You need to change them all at once. Our inks are
balanced to work together. Don’t worry too much about a
few half full cartridges. You will be saving at least 70%
on all of your ink, from now on!
Will
using Suprachrome void my printer manufacturer’s warranty?
NO!
Absolutely not. In fact, it is against the law for
them to void your manufacturer's warranty, just because
you use a third party ink or paper. The printer
manufacturer cannot void your equipment warranty for using
inks made by other manufacturers. No manufacturer
actually has this policy. They do however, hint at it, to
WORRY YOU.
Does
Suprachrome supply both dye and pigment based inks, and
what is the difference?
Yes,
we do. Both dye and pigment inks for Epson and Canon
printers are water based. The difference is that with a
dye based ink the colorant is liquid so the ink is a true
solution and contains no solids. In a pigment ink, the
colorant is a very fine powder that is dispersed through
out the ink. Generally speaking, a dye based ink gives
brighter and more vivid color than a pigment ink but is
less fade resistant. However, the latest pigment coating
technologies (as used by Suprachrome) make pigments nearly
as good as dyes for color rendition.
Can I
put pigment ink in my dye based printer?
You
can try it but we do not recommend it for any printer
other than the Epson 1400. The internal head
cleaning routines used in dye based printers are different
than those designed into pigment models. You can put dye
ink in a printer designed for pigment, but not vice versa.
However, dye and pigment inks do not generally mix
together well, so a printer should be cleaned out before
doing the changeover. If you would like more information
about this, write to

purchase Suprachrome in a store?

Can I
purchase larger sizes of Suprachrome ink?
You
bet! We can accommodate your requests for any size
you may need.
Do I
need to use a cleaning cartridges before using Suprachrome
ink?
Generally speaking, If you are using the original ink in
your printer than you don't need to use cleaning
cartridges when swapping to Suprachrome. If you have a
non-original ink in your printer, or Ink that was not
designed for your specific printer, or ink from a
discount ink company, then this may cause problems. In
these cases, cleaning cartridges should be used.
